7 Incredible Health Benefits Of Running every day

Running is a high-impact activity that helps strengthen bones along with the muscles. Do you know you also get to burn at least 10 calories per minute while doing it? There are much more benefits of running every day that you would have not imagined. The best part about running is that you don’t need to depend on others to do it yet you can also enjoy doing it with them. Amazing how versatile it is, right?!

Are you fed up with all those Youtube fitness routine that says “easy to follow” yet can’t seem to keep up? Or are you not that gym person who doesn’t get motivated enough to sweat despite all those types of equipment because you don’t like the idea of being in an enclosed room and wished to be somewhere else? How about finding yourself in love with a sport only to find it a hard time to find someone to play with whenever you have your free time? In this case, all your plans to get fit are put to a halt. Why not try running?

I am someone who has never been into any kind of sport throughout my life, it would probably surprise you that, now in my mid-30’s, I’m writing this article. But guess what, here I am, sharing with you how my newfound passion of running turned habit helped me keep my sanity between being a mother, wife and doing something I love, blogging!

I actually am one of those who used to wonder why people get hooked on running. I used to say, why to choose to do something so simple and wear out yourself after a couple of hours. What benefits could you have got from running? Better yet run by a store to grab some milk on your way home to make your running more useful, right?

Well, all this went down the drain when I found myself learning to love how to run, and amazed me what benefits can running give to your body, thus, the reason why tons and tons of people loved doing it.

7 Amazing Benefits of Running Everyday

1. Running Cleanses The Bloodstream

Unbeknownst to many, running doesn’t only help the body to look fit but also has some great benefits on the inside which happens by cleansing your bloodstream. Each stride you hit starts a detox process as it flushes out your lungs and cleanses your skin as you work up your sweat. Your body releases hormones called endorphins.

Endorphins are natural chemicals produced by the nervous system to help cope with pain or stress. It’s popularly known as the “feel-good” chemicals because they can act as a pain reliever and happiness booster.

2. Running Everyday Helps Release Anxiety

This same endorphin helps to ease anxiousness and clear your mind. This is one thing most adults feel most overwhelmed about due to adult responsibilities. After running, you’ll have a boost of confidence, great body image, and self-esteem that makes you look and feel vibrant and glow.

Being a Stay-At-Home-Mom with 2 young children who pull me in different directions throughout the day, running helps me calm my nerves every morning before they wake up. It has like the calm before the storm “effect” on me. This gives me time to pray, to reflect, be grateful and give my mind some time of peace even just for 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. That’s enough to keep me calm, have the confidence, and more patience to last me throughout the day. Who wouldn’t want a day with an energy that doesn’t wear out easily!

3. Dose of Vitamin D3 (if running is done outdoors)

Since running is mostly done outdoors, you’ll not only get the benefits from running but from where you’re running as well. Do you know that just going under the sun can support your bone health, lower your blood pressure, and promote good mental health?

Has the Pandemic reminded you as well something that we usually fail to recognize the importance of and even at times be the reason why we hate going out? What is it? Our very own Mr. Sun. Increasingly reduced exposure to the sun, which most of us experienced during the past year as we stayed more hours in the safety of our homes, affected our serotonin levels. Having low levels of serotonin makes people’s risk higher to depression.

Does it make sense now that you mostly feel sad/down whenever you stay too long in the dark?

4. Running Can Help You Maintain a Positive Mindset

You might think that the benefits of the adrenaline would wear off easily once you’re done running. I’m happy to tell you it doesn’t. Its effects go way beyond the time you’re finished with your workout and can leave you in a good mood throughout the day. You’ll also notice that in terms of functionality such as your cognitive flexibility, working memory, and attention control would significantly improve.

5. Running Helps Develop Discipline

Waking up every day may be a common thing to do, but getting up early morning is different. Making sure that you cultivate a routine takes more discipline than you think. Intentionally planning your day and making sure you include a physical activity is a habit that will lead you to a healthy lifestyle. This is something that most aim to have for the rest of their lives.

6. Running Can Help You Have a Good Night Sleep

Aside from the obvious that we get tired throughout the day doing what we need to do, adding physical activity into our routine where we make use of our body would surely knock us out of bed by night time and make us fall asleep better.

Kidding aside, what you’ll really get is great quality sleep. Not only because you really are tired but because you’ve got a clear mind. Have you been having a hard time sleeping at night just flipping yourself over and over trying to get the right position? It’s not the position, time, or your body that’s keeping you awake but your mind. How about go for a run?

7. Running enables you to Inspire Others

Believe it or not, there are more people born followers than leaders. People usually want to see others do stuff first, play it safe, and let those daring ones test the waters first, before plunging in. What if you can be that leader without feeling/ doing anything but merely just wanting to improve your lifestyle? You wouldn’t even need to ask them to follow as they’ll willingly follow your lead. Wouldn’t that be the greatest feeling to live with, changing other’s life?

Just so you know, I’m still in the beginner’s stage right now doing 5-10km daily. Elite runners would probably give a chuckle reading this article while moving their heads from right to left thinking, what give me the guts to write about something I barely know.

Well, that’s the thing actually. Everyone starts from somewhere and there’s always someone out there who’s just waiting for someone to give them a little kick on the butt to start running. If that’s you reading this, then here I am! Let’s go run!
